Double Oak Animal Ordinances

Confinement Law:  Double Oak has a confinement law for
dogs…please do not allow your dog to roam and always use a
leash when walking your dog.  Pets at large are subject to being
impounded by an Animal Control Officer and fees accessed to
an owner.  The Officer uses written notice cards and WARNING
cards on first time violations.  A second or third violation could
result in a citation being issued.

Registration:  A current rabies tag and Town registration tag
are required on your pet’s collar.  Registration tags can be
obtained at Town Hall with proof of a current rabies vaccination.
When a tag is issued, the information is added to a data base
that the Animal Control Officer carries with him.  If your dog is
found, that tag will allow the officer to return the dog to your
home without any fee charged to the owner.

Horse Laws:  Due to many residents with horses, a few
special laws apply.  Horses must be registered with the Town.
This service is FREE and simple by filling out a form at Town
Hall.  All horses are bound by “space” requirements as well.  A
horse must have at least 10,000 square feet (about one quarter
acre) to roam on, and the area must be at least 50 feet from any
dwelling other than the owner’s residence.  Areas must be kept
routinely cleaned so that any manure does not attract excessive
flies and cause odors.

I have been in the Animal Control
business for seven years now.  I have helped folks out
with all types of wildlife problems.  I have live traps
available for a rental fee to handle opossums, skunks,
raccoons, armadillos, and bobcats.  With rabbits,
coyotes, and snakes there are many deterrent methods I
can recommend to possibly solve the situation.
